Everyone, especially his dad wanted him to be a ruler -a prince, a king. Siddhartha saw untruth in ruling and saw how wrong the whole power hungry world was, so he ran away and found a tree.
He sat under a tree for few hours. Then few hours became few days, then a month – and he understood that there is nothing to understand. Siddhartha became enlightened – a simple soul.
He overcame the desire to desire, and the desire not to desire. Siddhartha Gautama became The Buddha.
People still try to sit under a tree for month until this day to understand that there is nothing to understand.
Apparently it’s pretty hard.
